The needle in Coravin’s products is hollow and gently passes through cork plugs, which when the needle is removed expand back to its normal shape. When extracted through the needle, the wine is replaced with pure argon gas. This ensures that your wine never comes into contact with oxygen and thus stays as fresh as the day it was bottled.

To use Coravin Timeless Six+ Green: 

Attach the SmartClamps™ to your bottle and push the handle into place. 
Tilt the bottle over the glass and press the trigger. Release the trigger to tilt. 
You have about 15 glasses in a gas cartridge. When the gas runs out, simply change to a new cartridge.
